Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Awards CEREMONY 2025.
On Thursday 25 September 2025, Basel Cottage Holidays were thrilled to be formally presented with the prestigious Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award at a special ceremony in Cardiff.
Together with 11 other organisations from across Wales, Basel Cottage Holidays were recognised for the outstanding support we give to the Armed Forces Community at the awards ceremony held at HMS CAMBRIA in Cardiff Bay.
Awards Ceremony:
This glittering awards ceremony began with a drinks reception with guests treated to music from Cerys Rees regimental harpist of The Royal Welsh. Additionally, throughout the evening, guests were also entertained by the brilliant Regimental Band of The Royal Welsh.
Compère for the awards evening was the delightful Sian Lloyd, a well-known Welsh television presenter, journalist and meteorologist. Her introduction was followed by a welcome speech given by James Evans MS, chair of the Senedd’s Cross Party Group on the Armed Forces and Cadets.
Opening and Keynote Addresses:
The opening address was given by Brigadier Russ Wardle OBE DL, chair of the Reserves Forces’ and Cadets’ Association for Wales.
Commodore Tris Kirkwood OBE ADC, Naval Regional Commander Wales, Western England and Channel Islands, gave the keynote address.

Presentation of Awards:
The awards were presented jointly by Commodore Tris Kirkwood OBE ADC, Brigadier Mark Davis CBE, Commander of 160th (Welsh) Brigade, Head of the Army in Wales and Air Officer Wales, Air Commodore Rob Woods OBE.
Awarded by the Ministry of Defence, the Employer Recognition Scheme formally recognises organisations that employ and/or support those who serve in the Armed Forces, veterans and their families. Across the UK, 202 organisations received the Gold Award this year.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
